When you write me, please note:
- the name of your publication or media outlet (newspaper, magazine,
blog, radio station, TV program and station, book, etc.)
- a link to your publication or media outlet
- a link to your biography or bylines on that publication's web
site
I receive hundreds of emails
a day. You read that right: hundreds. And I have no staff - it's just me
here. So please make your subject line descriptive. I'm more likely to
open emails with subjects like this:
Interview for the New York Times
Article for Deutsche Welle
Interview for CNN - DEADLINE TODAY!
Than I am click bait subjects like:
Jayne, let's talk
Jayne, can I call you?
Note: I'm on the West Coast of the USA - same time as Los Angeles.
Please check my
What's New page if you are
on deadline and need to hear from me quickly - I note there when I will be
away from email for any reason (if I am on vacation, I rarely read my
email whilst I'm gone). If you see that I am on vacation and you need to
reach me
urgently,
or you've emailed me and I still haven't responded, here is the trick to
getting my attention quickly: send a tweet with a mention of
@jayne_a_broad.
That is NOT my main Twitter feed (which is actually
@jcravens42).
But any time someone mentions
@jayne_a_broad
in a tweet, IF I AM IN THE USA, I get a text message telling me on my
phone. I check my phone each morning and each late afternoon while on
vacation.
If you want to talk by Skype, please email me with your contact
information for either platform and your proposed day(s) and time(s) to
talk. I'm usually on USA West Coast time (same as Los Angeles). View my
public calendar if you want to figure out where I am and my
availability.
To contact me via email, you must remove the word OINKMOO from
my email address. SORRY for the inconvenience - but it helps so much in
keeping robots from grabbing my email address and sending me things!
If you would like to try talk online via voice or video conference, I
can use Skype and GoogleTalk or WebEx, as you like. I do not "hang out" on
Skype -- if you want to talk via either, please email me to set up a time.
Contact me via email if you need a postal address for me (please say why
you need such).
