vv project affiliates: best practices in involving online volunteers 12 organizations participated as affiliates of the VV Project, selected based on their staff knowledge of basic volunteer issues; their success with volunteers in traditional, face-to-face settings; their vision for virtual volunteering at their organization; their commitment to the affiliate guidelines; their knowledge of basic Internet navigation and use; and their demonstrated commitment to timely communications via e-mail. These affiliate agencies shared experiences about their online volunteering activities and virtual volunteering management issues, and tried out suggestions from the Virtual Volunteering Project staff and each other. They also received assistance from the VV Project Team. Their collaboration with the Project was essential to the development of the materials on this web site. Most of these organizations continue to share information with the Virtual Volunteering Project, and are often highlighted in print and electronic media articles. The Project Affiliates are listed below, with a link to a profile of each agency and its virtual volunteering activities. More than 100 organizations have collaborated formally and informally on this Project, providing information, first-hand accounts and feedback about cyberservice. We've indexed them a number of ways here on our web site (alphabetically, by region, by type of service, and so forth).
Does your organization already involve volunteers via the Internet? Then We Want to Hear From You! If your organization involves volunteers "offline" to promote your agency's mission (tutoring clients, staffing a crisis line, support groups, etc.), and you want to explore involvement of online volunteers in a similar capacity, OR, if you already DO involve online volunteers and want to expand these activities, the Virtual Volunteering Project would love to help you. Read more about how we might collaborate.
If you do use Virtual Volunteering Project materials in your own workshop or trainings, or republish materials in your own publications, please let us know, so that we can track how this information is dissiminated.
